Free Today: Mole Kart, Tiny Heroes, and More

One of the greatest things about the App Store is that games go free all the time. And not just any games-- good games. As usual for Mondays, we've gathered the best titles that are free for a limited time, so click ahead to get started.
Tiny Heroes

It's always fun to switch roles in games, and Tiny Heroes lets you do just that by putting you in the blood-stained boots of the villain. In this game you control dungeons that house your riches, and you have to defend against an onslaught of heroes trying to claim your gold for their own. To do that, you have a creative mix of traps and creatures that you can deploy at your leisure. It all adds up to one of the best tower defense games we've played in a long time.
Our Score: 4 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: Though it has a few quirks, Tiny Heroes provides one of the best experiences in dungeon crawling this side of a Game Master’s screen.
Mole Kart

Mario Kart won't be coming to iOS any time soon, so download Mole Kart to get your goofy racing fix. An obvious clone that borrows more than a little from its Nintendo inspiration, Mole Kart manages to grab some of the fun from its more popular older brother. But if you didn't feel right giving money to a company making such an obvious clone, now you can grab this one for nothing.
Our Score: 3 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: Mole Kart looks and plays just like Mario Kart, but it's not as charming.

Powder Monkeys

When humanity dies off, monkeys will inherit the earth. When that happens, according to this game, they'll sail around like pirates, trying to sink each other's ships. It's a cartoonish and colorful world depicted in Powder Monkeys, and it's well worth a download if you don't mind a little ship-battling grind here and there as you try to expand your territory.
Our Score: 3 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: More fun than a barrel of monkeys, but isn’t quite on like Donkey Kong.
Legends of Elendria

Legends of Elendria is a well-made tower defense game that has you placing defensive weapons along a path to stop the oncoming line of enemy troops. Sure, most iOS gamers have probably played their share of TD games in the past, but this one has a solid upgrade mechanic and loads of content. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it's free.
Our Score: 3 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: Though it doesn’t add anything new to the genre, Legends of Elendria offers a well-made and deep tower defense experience.
Kard Combat

If Kard Combat looks like Magic: The Gathering, that's because it was created by same guy, the card gaming mastermind Richard Garfield. He's brought his expertise to this entirely new game, filling it with the polish and creativity you'd expect. Thankfully, it's easy for newcomers to learn but deep enough for seasoned card battling vets. Pick this one up if you can handle the strategery.
Our Score: 3 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: The most fun you can have battling with cards, short of whipping them at each other.
Flick Soccer

Games don't get much simpler than Flick Soccer, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. On the contrary, Flick Soccer is one of the better bite-sized games to hit the App Store last year. In this game, you're generally flicking a soccer ball toward a guarded goal, but the game comes with a plethora of modes to keep things fresh. It works, so download this one before the price goes up.
Our Score: 4 out of 4
Our Bottom Line: Even if you don’t like sports, Flick Soccer will make you feel like a superstar.
