SHREDDER Will Make You Sound Cool While Shredding on the Guitar

The future has come. We may not have our jetpacks, but we now have a guitar synthesizer for the iPad. SHREDDER- Synth for Guitar is a deeply complex synthesizer that was designed specifically for your guitar. Choose from over 100 different preset effects to make your guitar sound awesome. SHREDDER- Synth for Guitar is on sale from $14.99 to only $5.99 until January 14.
Most iPad apps that turn your guitar into a synthesizer requires a third-party addition like a special synth pickup. SHREDDER is the first of its kind to allow a straight plug in from the Guitar to the iPad. You don’t even need an adaptor like the iRig. This app allows you to use the iPad’s built-in mic, but this feature is only accessible with headphones.

The app comes with a analog synth engine, a virtual pedal board and a dedicated guitar mix fader. There is attack and decay faders, a metronome and tuner, and the option to record. It includes three stomp boxes, Fuzz, Goblin and Ghoul Vibrations. SHREDDER can also be used as a MIDI out interface. Users can access other virtual MIDI devices or hardware through 16 of the app’s MIDI channels.

What I liked: I loved the fact that this app does not require an adapter to be plugged into your iPad/guitar. I have yet to invest in an adaptor and have not been able to fully take advantage of guitar-compatible apps.
What I didn’t like: SHREDDER is a fairly complex app. Unless you are a guitar tech nerd, many of the features will be confusing and overwhelming. If you are a beginner when it comes to synthesizers, be warned that you might get lost in the knobs.
To buy or not to buy: At the sale price of $5.99, this app is worth it for anyone that can play guitar at all. Even if you have no idea what you are doing, you can have lots of fun with this plug-in-and-play app. At the regular price of $14.99, it is great for musicians that know what they are doing, but might be too much for a synth “noob.”
