Pop The Corn is a delicious and stress busting proposition. There’s no deep and involving game mechanics, or complex storyline, it’s all about having fun in short, sharp doses.
All the player has to do is create kernels of corn then pop them. It’s as simple as that. One minute is put on the clock ensuring that play is fast paced. Tapping furiously is the bulk of the gameplay but precision is key too. Once the corn pops up into a full sized piece of popcorn, it’s down to the player to tap again in order to clear it (presumably by eating it). Multi touch is the best way to achieve the highest scores.
Some strategy is added to the concept behind
Pop The Corn. Popcorn goes stale the longer it stays in the pot, switching from golden to gray, finally to black and unpleasant. Eating golden, tasty popcorn in a row invokes combo scores, thus boosting the overall score. There’s also the presence of popcorn bombs that clear all surrounding popcorn and slows progress. Luckily, there are also freezing popcorns that freeze time and give the player extra seconds to score more valuable points.
That’s literally all there is to Pop The Corn. It’s a very simple game which is to its benefit as well as its detriment. With 29 achievements and numerous ranks to attain, Pop The Corn is a no frills but still quite fun title, solely focused on scoring highly. I’d have liked to have seen more modes or more powerups but the core gameplay is still quite fun.
Pop The Corn might not be the kind of game to play for hours on end. It does get a little dull for extended sessions. For five minutes every now and then though, especially when stressed, it does the job just fine.
