I’m not convinced it’s possible to be simpler than Paparazzi Photo for it is incredibly simple to use indeed. It’s a photography app that focuses on one very simple task: taking photos quickly. That’s literally all there is to it.
Upon opening the app, there’s no actual interaction or user interface. It immediately starts taking photos – four to be exact. The purpose behind this is to be able to catch images fast. Ever tried taking a cute picture of a child running? A new puppy? They don’t have the decency to stay still to pose, they’re too busy having fun. The speed in which Paparazzi Photo loads means photos are taken almost instantaneously. The risk of missing much is low. To counteract one problem with taking photos of quick action subjects – blurriness – the app takes four photos of a situation in order that the best photo can be picked out.
The actual settings for Paparazzi Photo are hidden away in the Settings app. They’re simple still though, just affecting how many photos are taken, whether the flash is switched on and the quality of the images taken. While the settings suggest that after taking four photos, the app determines the best shot and saves it to the Photo Album, this doesn’t seem to happen. A shame as this would have been a particularly useful feature and would have saved the need for editing apps after initial shooting.
It’s difficult to figure out what to compare Paparazzi Photo to. Something like ProCamera offers similar functionality but it isn’t quite as fast to load. However it does offer many more features. Paparazzi Photo feels like an utility app, one that’s handy to have on standby for certain ocassions but one that needs the back up of an editing app afterwards. At $0.99 it’s quite well priced though and worth a go for anyone expecting to take plenty of fast shots.
