Having Problems with iTunes Match? Check Out Apple’s New Guide

iTunes Match launched in the United States back in November, but Apple has only just got around to releasing a web page dedicated to explaining the ins and outs of the service.
The information about iTunes Match used to be included on the iTunes in the Cloud website, but confusion over the service and exactly what it entails has led to the creation of a more in-depth page.

Apple’s new description of the service is detailed and concise:
With iTunes in the Cloud, the music you buy from the iTunes Store automatically appears on all your devices. And for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. iTunes Match is built right into iTunes on your computer and the Music app on your iOS devices. It lets you store your entire collection in iCloud, even music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. When it’s in iCloud, it’s available on all your devices. So you can enjoy all your music anywhere, anytime — on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TV.
Apple then goes on to describe how iTunes Match works, detailing the process of how iTunes determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store, adding the content automatically and uploading songs that may not be available through Apple for complete access to all music.
After a lengthy description, Apple includes a step-by-step tutorial on how to begin the song matching and uploading process, which should help clear up much of the confusion that less experienced iTunes users were running into.
Apple finishes up with an FAQ that gives a rundown on who can use iTunes Match, the music formats the service accepts, syncing, and info on downloading vs. streaming songs. If there’s still any lingering confusion, there’s also a detailed walkthrough video to watch.
Any new service is bound to be bewildering in the initial stages, so Apple’s informative iTunes Match website is a welcome addition. I wouldn’t be surprised if this easy-to-understand in-depth information enticed a slew of new users to sign up for iTunes Match.
