Rumors Suggest Two iPad 3 Models Are In Development

iPad 3

The iPad 3 is in certification, and one thing we can count on is that it will receive a speed boost.  iCloud was recently confirmed at the WWDC which will free up storage issues and there are rumors that Apple is going to use a highly improved A5 processor in the iPhone 5 or iPad 3.

A report in Microprocessor says that the A5 is Apple’s first processor that currently jumps out ahead of the pack when it comes to competition, but yet it comes with a steep cost.  They also stated that the processor design choice will affect the way it rolls out its new products in the 2011 schedule as well as any beyond that.

The A5 which is rumored to grace the iPhone 5 come time for its release date may have to be tweaked in order to account for its heat output.  An iPad case is larger and allows for more heat dissipation than an iPhone which is what the highly improved A5 processor may mean.

The current A5 sits in the iPad 2 however were certain that Apple will look to incorporate an A6 processor to power the iPad 3, and that its likely in the development stages right now.

Apple May Be Working on Two iPad 3 models According to Rumors

Tuaw recently uncovered some firmware code that hints at the possibility of two iPad 3 models; the 3,1 & 3,2.  There were also two iPhone 5 models; however no sign of a new iPod touch.  I’m sure you’re asking what that means so here it is.

Apple could be looking to release two variants of the iPad 3; a price friendly version and a full featured version, or the second edition could be a second prototype being tested internally in order to decide which will come to the market for production.

There have been fresh rumors that Apple is looking to introduce the iPad 3 with a price reduction in order to compete more efficiently with the huge flood of android tablets that are hitting the market, and picking up steam quickly.

Different speculations altogether are suggesting that the second variant is a world iPad 3 or one that will work on any network including CSM or the popular CDMA which is used by customers of Verizon Wireless.

There’s not enough information at this time to solidify Apple’s plan for each iPad 3 variant, but it’s likely that they are two slight variants rather than two separate models altogether.  Would you like to see a cheaper iPad 3 roll out, or are you putting your money on the fact that it’s just a tablet to cater to each designated wireless service provider?
