Marblenauts
Do you like this story?
“Marblenauts” from developer Crescent Flare is one of those real jems that probably wouldn’t exist without a touch screen device like the iPad. It’s a puzzle game unlike any I’ve ever played before, but feels totally familiar and classic.
With 80 levels to dig through, your goal is to get your little round guys to roll down a cave and into the exits. You can’t actually move your characters though, and must rely on tapping to break pieces of ground that allow you to fall and start rolling. Your character rolls off edges depending on the direction he’s coming from and whether or not the piece of ground has a rounded or straight edge. It’s clever, addictive and hard. Most importantly, it’s a lot of fun.
The excellent pixel art style graphics, music and overall charm add to a great package. The only thing I felt “Marblenauts” was missing is a hint system. There are times when you are going to really be racking your brain on a level, and a hint would be nice. Maybe even offer different trophies based on the speed you complete a level and whether or not you used a hint.
“Marblenauts” is a great puzzle game and definitely worth a try. It’s available for $1.99 on the AppStore.
