iPad 3 – Prepping Suppliers & Adjusting Cost

The Apple iPad has seen unparalleled success leaving the iPad 3 to follow the same footprint in the near future. With any great device however, comes competition as other manufacturers try to compete in the market by releasing their iteration of the next best touch screen tablet.
Although many tablets have already tried to contend with the Cuppertino giant, most have failed to steal very much steam from the iPad. In preparation for the plethora of new tablets coming out in the second half of 2011, Apple is beginning to prepare itself should a real contender appear later this year.

According to industry sources (via DigiTimes), Apple is actively involved with a number of suppliers for integrated circuits for their upcoming iPad 3.

Industry Sources & Cost Structure for iPad 3

Apple is now more willing to adopt IC solutions from Taiwan-based IC design houses as it is adjusting the cost structure for iPad tablets in order to compete with an array of tablet PCs to be launched by rivals in the second half of 2011, commented the sources.

Does this mean IC solutions will allow Apple to release their current tablets as well as the iPad 3 for a cheaper price starting this year? Many consumers biggest factor in terms of making a purchase is the price, and if Apple hits that sweet-spot it will be very hard for other manufacturers to compete once again.
