From the looks of it, the iPad 3 will be 4G LTE ready on its release date. There were some recent leaked AT&T documents that were uncovered by some hackers under the moniker LulzSec.
These retrieved plans are indicating that AT&T is preparing to bring full support for 4G LTE networks in the near future. The iPhone 5 has also been referenced in the documents pointing to a September release date. Most sources are backing up a September release however dismissing LTE data capabilities; claiming it won’t be ready for the iPhone 5 but rather the iPhone 6.
The hacked and later released documents were heavily filled with technical jargon that most people would find hard to understand unless they came from a communications or wireless background. However it’s clearly depicted that the references are indeed a LTE iPad currently in the works.
iPad 3 New Activations HLS New Rate Plan
Also highlighted in the documents was the iPad new activations HLS under a completely new plan. Like some people have been mentioning and hoping for, it looks like a new rate plan may be in the works and the iPad LTE being referenced is likely to be the Apple iPad 3.You may remember supply chain sources publishing iPad 3 rumors of an improved display, and LTE data incorporation. It looks like these sources may have been on to something here!
iPad 3 4G LTE Testing in the Pipeline Since 2010?
There were also clues suggesting that a late November and early December speed test would be scheduled and conducted involving the new iPad which puts our thinking back onto the iPad 3 release date time frame of early 2012. The documents were found, however in a November 2010 internal filing so it remains under question whether or not the testing was done in November 2010, or if it was a plan for 2011.If you recall when the iPhone 4 was released it lacked 4G capabilities because of its design and inability to fit a 4G LTE radio. Seeing as how the iPad 3 is in development and Apple has a new battery size patent, and is larger than an iPhone it’s certainly possible to incorporate the 4G LTE radio this time around for the iPad 3.
