iOS 5.0.1 adds multitasking gestures to original iPad

iOS 5.0.1, the first update for Apple's shiny new mobile platform, has just gone live in beta form to developers, adding a number of key features and fixes.
Most notably, the multitasking gestures that were afforded to iPad 2 owners in with the iOS 5 have been put into place for the original iPad, meaning all iPaders now have the ability to use four or five fingers to swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar, pinch to return to the Home screen, or swipe left or right to switch between apps.
The 5.0.1 update also adds a fix to the battery-life bugs that Apple has admitted exist within the new OS as well as adding a security patch for the Smart Cover vulnerability that allowed anyone with a Smart Cover (or a magnet) to break into any passcode protected iPad 2 - having access to whatever the locked iPad 2 app was left on when closed.
Additional features of iOS 5.0.1 include resolving bugs with Documents in the Cloud and adding improved voice recognition for Australian users using dictation. Apparently, Siri didn't know what fair dinkum meant and had no idea what a flamin' galah was.
Out now to developers in beta form, this should mean a stable release of iOS 5.0.1 to all fanboys in the next couple of weeks.
