HTC promises new top end phones to take on tough competition

HTC, once known for its innovative and highly successful handsets, recently cut its revenue forecast to match last year's growth. Investors are now becoming concerned the company might have lost its once highly succesful design touch.
Speaking to Reuters, Chief Financial Officer Winston Yung explained how he didn't feel the company to be taking Nokia's route. ""We have six quarters of improvement, the most conservative guidance is 45 million units of shipments this year, a lot higher than 25 million last year."
"We will focus on the product next year, better and more competitive. Other than new LTE phones for the U.S. market, we also have phones for the global market. We will launch some worldwide flagship products. We're confident in them."
It is that last statement which has us excited. No one can deny that a HTC flagship device isn't impressive. Phones like the dual-core Sensation and Sensation XE had us left might impressed this year, as did the Beats integration that now ships with a lot of the company's phones.
One of the main problems HTC is facing is the obvious success of Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy range of phones. They are also engaged in plentiful patent battles between major smartphone providers.
Samsung on the other hand says it plans to out do even last year's stratospheric sales increase, beating its 2011 sales target thanks to unexpected demand of the Galaxy range of phones.
