Get into the Holiday Spirit with Disney Princess: A Royal Christmas – iPad App Review

The only thing more magical to a child than Disney Princesses is the Christmas season, so imagine the joy inside this app having them both together! Cinderella, Ariel and Tiana all offer unique and enchanting holiday stories. Ariel is looking to surprise her family and friends with a Christmas-morning treasure hunt, Cinderella is throwing a party and Tiana is hosting a yuletide celebration!
The original artwork found inside this app is as wonderful as we have come to expect from Disney publications and features many tap-to-play animations.

With an app-wide hunt for tree trimmings, you and your child can find the hidden ornaments inside all of the stories and decorate the virtual tree together. Move the ornaments around and make the tree lovely and personalized.
For those children who love coloring there are countless screen shots to personalize and work with. Several puzzles also exist, teaching children to problem solve while they are entertained.
Two different modes allow you to choose between a read and explore mode that you can work through at your own pace or a fully-guided follow along mode which is actually rather enchanting.

What I liked: Disney quality can be seen in the finishing touches including professional narration, beautiful music and high quality sound effects.

What I didn’t like: I wish there was an option in this app for little boys to relate to. With so many Disney princes, it would be nice to see their male characters also well represented in these kinds of apps.

To buy or not to buy: This is a lovely app with several stories to enjoy. As with all of the Disney apps, I think you will find this one hard to resist if you have a child who loves princesses.
