Calculator apps are not the most exciting of things to deal with. No one looks through the App Store and gasps in amazement at an exciting new calculator app hitting the store. At least not until calculations are incorporated into an Angry Birds title at least. Being able to calculate all manners of different things is incredibly useful, though, and it seems difficult to beat Calc Pro HD.

The app might seem a little pricey at $7.99 but it appears to do literally everything. Offering 10 different forms of calculator, the choice becomes nearly overwhelming once the user dips under the surface. The standard calculator does predictably standard things but it’s the other 9 that get complex. A scientific calculator offers calculations that I don’t fully understand, complete with various scientific markers that will make sense to mathematical sorts. I was left with knowing what sin, cos and tan meant then struggling elsewhere. Base conversions and a graphing calculator are also possible from their own separate sections – graphing being particularly useful for those looking for a more visual explanation to complex calculations.
For the less scientifically minded, an unit convertor encompassing over 3000 different options across 18 categories can take the edge off figuring out measurements while cooking. It also means users who need to convert between imperial and metric systems can do so very quickly. A world currency convertor is also provided with daily updates keeping figures as up to date as possible. Covering over 150 different currencies also helps immensely.
For the financial expert, a financial calculator is supplied along with one for statistical analysis. The financial calculator comes with some worksheets that enable users to solve common problems easily such as a mortgage calculator, tip calculator, profit margin worksheets and depreciation and compound interest worksheets.
It’s quickly become apparant that Calc Pro HD is the swiss army knife of calculators. Even a Date & Time calculator is thrown in with lunar moon phases included. Keeping each calculator separate is ideal as it means that those intimidated by other sections can just steer clear but reap the benefits of the rest of Calc Pro HD.
While possibly a little pricey for an impulse buy, anyone who needs to make frequent calculations covering different types of figures, Calc Pro HD is an ideal purchase.
