Three new Sony handsets leak ahead of MWC
Do you like this story?
In terms of the Windows Phone device; it would mean a new manufacturer for the platform and the first time that Sony and Microsoft have teamed up since the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Windows Mobile 6.1 handset that launched back in 2008.
PocketNow has images of what it is claiming to be "some SE Windows Phone hardware" although it does state the images may be of an old scrapped project. The Sony Ericsson branding, rather than the solitary Sony, does kind of make us lean towards thinking this may be an old model that never came to fruition.
However, if we're to use that method to ruling out handsets then we'd have to discount the two unidentified Xperia handsets spotted in a group photo that GSM Arena got its hands on. It is claiming that the two smartphones could be the codenamed Xperia Nypon and the Xperia Kumquat.
The smaller Xperia Kumquat, also based on the NovaThor U8500, apparently features a 3.5-inch FWVGA Reality display and boasts a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording.
Obviously, these are pretty audacious rumours based on a couple of dodgy images but, with MWC just weeks away now, expect the smartphone and tablet rumour mill to step up a notch or twelve. This is just the beginning...
