Snapseed, Apple’s iPad App of the Year, to Join the Mac

Even before it was Apple’s iPad app of the year for 2011, we recognized Snapseed (PadGadget = 5 Stars), as a powerful photo editing app with intuitive gesture controls at a low price. The popular application will be released in the Mac App store during 2012.
Snapseed appeals to a wide audience, from amateurs who just got their first iPad or Mac to experienced photographers who know their way around Aperture and Lightroom.
“We’re thrilled with the success and worldwide recognition of our popular mobile app and are excited to bring the Snapseed experience to Mac users for the first time,” said Michael J. Slater, President and CEO of Nik Software. “By bringing Snapseed to the Mac App Store, we’re able to quickly extend our reach to a worldwide audience of creative amateur photographers while offering our existing mobile users the fully-featured Mac experience they’ve been asking for.

Fans of the iOS app will find the same features ported to the Mac including:
• Tune Image— correct photos, create depth, or adjust White Balance, Saturation, and Contrast.
• Auto Correct—Automatically analyzes your photo and adjusts color and exposure that user can fine tune with slider controls.
• Selective Adjust—Make precise selections and enhancements in seconds with Nik Software’s U Point technology.
• Tilt-Shift filter—Creates a narrow in-focus area designed to simulate depth of field, common in a Miniature Scene look.
• Details filter—Enhances details with traditional sharpening as well as Nik Software’s structure control found in the professional Nik Software product line.
• Crop & Straighten—Rotate or straighten with simple slider controls and select from a variety of standard aspect ratios while cropping.
• Filters — Add a variety of filters including Grunge, Drama, Vintage, and Black and White
• Frames—Add borders to photos by choosing styles and textures.
• Sharing—Share photos on Facebook and Flickr, email photos, and print them wirelessly via Apple’s AirPrint/
Users running Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.2 and later will be able to download Snapseed for Mac from the Mac App Store for $19.99. Nik Software plans to release the app sometime this year.
Are you excited to try out Snapseed for Mac or will you keep editing photos on your iPad? Let us know in the comments.
Update: The app is now available for download here.
