Thunderbolt for PC in April 2012 claims source
Do you like this story?
"Intel has recently notified its partners that the company will fully release its Thunderbolt technology in April of 2012 with several first-tier PC players already preparing to launch Thunderbolt-supported motherboards, notebooks and desktop PCs, according to sources from PC players," reports the site.
The news means that laptops, desktops and other devices from companies like Acer and Samsung will be able to use the technology that allows transfer speeds up to 480Mbit/s. In real terms means you can transfer a 5GB file in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.
The PC industry has been reluctant to adopt the technology having tried to adopt USB 3.0 as the defacto standard. However following Apple's move to standardise it in its product range, it is believed the industry is changing its tune.
The report says that Sony and Asus are the most likely to adopt the technology first.
Could we see new devices with Thunderbolt in them at CES 2012 in January?
We will keep you posted.
