Gingerbread now the dominant Android platform

Gingerbread now the dominant Android platform. Phones, Tablets, Android, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Google 0

Froyo has been toppled from its lofty perch as the the dominant Android version, being replaced by Gingerbread.
The 2.3 variations equate for over 50 per cent of the Android market share, across all mobile devices, and the figures suggest that the fandroid community is quick to upgrade to the latest iterations of the versions their devices are capable of, with almost all Gingerbread users being on revision 2.3.3 onwards.
Froyo has slipped back to a share of just over a third and Eclair is on the way out at less than 10 per cent. Cupcake and Donut are almost extinct on 0.8 per cent and 1.3 per cent respectively.
The biggest surprise is the lack of love for Honeycomb. We know that the number of Android handsets far outweigh the tablet offerings but a share of less than 2.5 per cent isn't exactly overwhelming.
Maybe now Ice Cream Sandwich is out there in the wild, we'll see a tablet friendly Android version making a big impression. Google will certainly be hoping so.
