iPad 3 Could Rival Mainstream Desktops
In a past article we talked about sourcing from Samsung to obtain greater resolution for the iPad 3 display. Well recently, a Samsung rep revealed that they are in the process of developing a 2GHz dual core processor. This doesn’t seem like any big deal except for the fact that this CPU is being developed for a smartphone! The phone would have the potential for 4GHz worth of data processing and unmatched speed amongst its competitors, since those numbers can compete with most mainstream desktops currently on the market.
Here’s where it gets exciting for Apple fans and those waiting for the iPad 3! Although Samsung touts the CPU for a smartphone, we could likely see it in future iPads (and the iPhone of course).
The Samsung Representative stated:
“We are planning to release a 2GHz dual core CPU-equipped smartphone by next year. This product will have the data processing capabilities of a regular PC.”If you were not aware before now, Samsung already has a steady relationship with Apple. The A4 and A5 chips are currently manufactured by Samsung which power the iPad 2 and iPhone 4. This news generates the possibility of an extremely powerful A6 processor in the near future!
Regarding all the recent rumors and news surrounding the iPad 3, this CPU is exactly what the iPad 3 needs if it is going to support the enhanced display and other features that demand increased data processing that users are rooting for.
The current iPad 2 boasts a dual core 1GHz CPU with capable speeds around 2GHz operating both cores. Users have praised the increased speed of the iPad 2 from the first generation iPad. Apple would certainly satisfy the speed and multi-tasking junkies if we see the A6 and iPad 3 with this sort of power!
