High Flyer Death Defyer Returns With Jet Pack Test Missions – iPad App Review

Action adventurer Arreon is back in an all-new prequal story of death defying missions and fast-paced “avoider” style action. This follow-up to the hit game High Flyer Death Defyer tells the coming-of-age story of the game’s hero and how he came to become a Death Defyer. Jet Pack Tests will leave you dizzy with excitement and wanting more.
Your goal is to test Arreon’s newest invention, the jet pack. You will learn how to tilt left and right, dive, slow drop and maneuver around obstacles to land safely on the island below. New tests become more challenging than previous ones and require skills and practice.
Each level includes a specific mission, like “Fly through three rings, dodge left, then right and land.” Arreon jumps off the platform and using either the virtual joystick, or tilt controls, you must follow the course to the island, or treasure box or whatever the mission requires you to land on. Be careful not to go off course. If you miss the landing platform, you lose.

This app includes the 17 original jetpack test missions that are in High Flyer Death Defyer, plus 23 additional levels for you to master. It is the perfect casual pick-up game to introduce you to the more complex, HFDD. Once you have learned how exciting Arreon’s adventures are in Jetpack Tests, you will want to pick up HFDD. Luckily, the latter game is on sale for $2.99 until November 25.

What I liked: There are 40 missions to complete. For only $0.99, you are getting a great deal on this game. Plus, it prepares you for HFDD.
What I didn’t like: The tutorials are vague. For example, when you are told to “dive,” there is no information as to which button that is. You just have to figure it out on your own.
To buy or not to buy: Absolutely. This is a great game at a great price. If you find yourself wanting more, pick up HFDD on sale until November 25.
