Frozen Synapse Coming to iPad in 2012
Do you like this story?
Frozen Synapse is a game in which you take the role of nameless green man and move around a maze-like map trying to shoot nameless red men. At least, I think it is – a friend sent it to me on Steam and I only played it for about ten minutes before getting frustrated and turning on an old episode of Futurama.
Of course, other gamers aren’t quite as incompetent as me, and Frozen Synapse is, unsurprisingly, a resounding success. The developer, Mode7, has confirmed that they’ve digitally delivered over 30,000 copies of the game since release. Now, they’re looking to land a few thousand more in the form of an iPad adaptation, scheduled for some time in 2012.
Managing director Paul Taylor summed up the idea nicely in the press release announcing the move:
"Despite my lumpen, sausage-like digits, I am particularly excited about Frozen Synapse coming to iPad. I look forward to flicking my little green men around the place with wanton abandon."
"Not only are we doing this iPad thing, but we are also looking at better ways of updating and supporting the game on its current platforms - expect some new things in the New Year."After playing the game, even for a few minutes, it feels pretty obvious that the Frozen Synapse will be right at home on the iPad. iPad games work best when the controls are simple but the missions are hard, and that’s exactly what Frozen Synapse seems to be."
Anyone going to pick this up for their iPad, or did you get your fill on the PC?
