Dell Inspiron 14z guns for Ultrabook status, but isn't an Ultrabook

Dell has unveiled the Inspiron 14z at IFA in Berlin, Germany, offering yet another thin "ultra-mobile laptop", but not an Ultrabook. Should we still get excited?
Spotting that the important part of that model number is "z" the new laptop will come with Intel’s 2nd generation Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processor options, a 14-inch widescreen HD (1366x768 resolution) display, and optional features including up to 8GB memory, choice of a 500GB, 640GB or 750GB hard drive, along with an internal tray-load DVD combo for playing and recording DVDs/CDs. It doesn’t appear there is an SSD option however.
"The new Inspiron 14z is one of the most powerful, ultra-thin Inspiron laptops we’ve ever offered," said Aongus Hegarty, vice president and general manager of Dell’s Consumer, Small and Medium Business unit for EMEA.
Colour wise it will come in standard Diamond Black or optional Fire Red LCD back and matching palm rest, full-size chiclet-style keyboard and HD webcam.
A built-in media card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0, and built-in SRS Premium Sound HD are also included.
Dell fans will also be pleased to hear that the 14z comes with the Dell Stage user interface.
The Inspiron 14z is available later this month in select Best Buy outlets throughout the UK. It will be available in other retail locations in the UK, and select countries throughout Europe later this year.
As for whether the company is classing this as an ultrabook, Dell got very cagey when we asked for clarification saying:
“We work closely with our partners, including Intel, on new product development that addresses our customers’ needs, but can’t comment on future roadmaps.
"Dell’s current offering in a series of thin and powerful laptops include the XPS 15z, which blends style, craftsmanship and performance. Last month, we also announced the Inspiron 14z consumer laptop, and the Vostro V131 targeted towards small business customers, both with uncompromising performance in a thin form factor, just over 1” thin."
