Create Holiday Greetings on the iPad with Touchnote, Santa Express
Do you like this story?
Despite the growing presence of social media in our lives, sending a holiday card is in the works this year for most consumers polled in a recent Zoomerang survey. Though 74 percent of those polled reported that they did not plan to send an electronic greeting this year, there are several new card creation apps for iOS that may encourage users to spread holiday cheer via the iPad.
As the options for sending out cards that are created via iOS, but arrive by post continue to grow, the tiny segment of early adopters who create cards on the iPad is likely to grow as well. Apple’s own Cards app, which sends customized letterpress cards created on an iDevice via post starting at $2.99, debuted soon after the release of iOS 5.
The newly released Touchnote, a universal, free app will send a postcard anywhere in the world to the designee of the user’s choice for just $1.99. Touchnote is currently running a holiday promotion, reducing the price of each postcard to $0.99 if a 15-credit pack is purchased.
Touchnote is affordable, customizable, and appealing for users who are trying to cut down on excess paper. The app lets users send the same card to multiple addresses, so sending out holiday cards courtesy of Touchnote will tempt users who are put off by the amount of work involved in mailing a large stack of cards to everyone in their Contacts.
Both Touchnote and Cards combine the convenience of creating the card on an iDevice, yet still allow the recipient the pleasure of receiving an actual card, rather than a digital facsimile, in the mail.
Users who want to go completely digital should check out Cards for iPad by Lifelike Apps, which is $3.99 to purchase, but lets users send as many digital cards as they wish for free. The app was just updated to include a Thanksgiving day theme, which may be perfect for users looking to send out correspondence throughout the holiday season.
But what’s Christmas without a letter to Santa? Santa.com also just released, Santa Express, a free app for iPad (available separately for iPhone and iPod touch) that encourages children to compose their letters to jolly old St. Nick on an iPad and then send them to the mailroom at Santa.com where users can view them after creating an account.
Regardless of how iPad owners decide to share their holiday wishes this season, we hope you all have fun and get lots greetings in return from your friends and family.
