ContactsTap Review
Do you like this story?
The main reason I was interested in this app was I wanted to be able to send group SMS and email messages. It integrates with the native contacts app and automatically imports contacts without any sync time. Contacts can be edited, deleted and added to contact groups. There are also many more display options available in ContactsTap than in the native app, including contact pictures that can be viewed from the main contact list. ContactsTap also doubles as a calendar app. Calendar events can be created and edited within the app and will sync with the native calendar app.
The interface of ContactsTap is very easy to use. I was able to navigate and set up contact groups without any trouble. I will say that it takes some time to figure out every little function since there are so many options available.
There are a few bugs that I found that I think need to be remedied and the developer is already aware of most of them. Currently the ability to send group SMS messages seems to only work if iMessage, MMS and Group Messages are turned off in iOS 5. Also, I sometimes noticed that not all my contacts within a contact group get added to a group SMS message. A few get left out. I’m betting these bugs will be fixed in a future update.
Overall this is a very useful little app. Despite its quirks it has the ability to send group messages and it gives more user options than the native contacts app. There are some other similar apps out there, but I feel that ContactsTap competes with them well. The app is fairly priced at $1.99 and it has the potential to be a complete contacts app replacement as soon as these key bugs are resolved.
