Apple’s Statements & Opinions On The iPad 3 Release Date

During a recent earnings call, Apple claimed that they have no plans to release an iPad 3 in 2011. If you’ve been getting excited about all the rumors lately, then this may be something you don’t particularly care to hear.
Apple quickly dismissed the iPad 3‘s release in 2011 when they were asked about its plans; declaring the iPad 2 as a current success. With the iPad 2 selling extremely well, Apple stated that they want to see how the market plays out over the next several years.
What does that mean for Apple and their direction? What about the iPad 3?
It is our opinion that they are trying to take some of the hype and rumors off of the iPad 3 because they are stuck in a tough spot. Although the iPad 2 is selling extremely well, there are still a lot of laggards who are debating holding onto their original iPad in hopes of a dream machine! (the iPad 3).Even if the iPad 3 does not come out until early 2012, Apple wants to focus all of the hype and marketing on its current products. Which brings us to another point…
Should Apple hold true to the rumors circulating the web, and release an iPad 3 in the summer or late 2011, this is the time frame for the iPhone 5 as well. Recent reports and analysts are stating that if Apple was to release an iPad 3 around the same time as the iPhone 5, then they would be competing against one another.Apple potentially competing against themselves?
Consumers would have to make a conscious decision regarding what they could afford, and what they should upgrade. They don’t believe this is logical because Apple’s current release schedule is aligned perfectly by allowing enough padding time in between each products release.
Apple must also focus on the fact that Android powered tablets are going to be steadily released later this year and will be trying to remain as competitive as possible. As always, competitors will be aiming to reverse engineer the iPad and try to provide sought after elements; seeking to entice consumers to either adopt or switch to their products.
This recent news may shed some light on whether or not the iPad 3 will be released in 2011. At this time, indications are pointing to a 2012 release date.
