Acer AC700 Chromebook says Samsung Series 5 Chromebook not allowed all the fun
Do you like this story?
We’ve know for some time that Acer was creating a Chromebook running Google’s new operating system, Chrome OS, but now the company has dished out more information about it’s first Chromebook laptop which will go on sale in the US in the next couple of days.
Called the Acer AC700, the new model will sport an 11.6-inch HD Widescreen CineCrystal LED-backlit LCD screen and come with an Intel Atom N570 dual-core processor. It will have 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 16GB SSD on the storage front.
The launch means that the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook, recently launched in the US and the UK is not longer the only model on the market for those wanting to get their hands on the new offering from Google and it's partners.
With Chrome OS all about being on the web – remember there is currently no offline mode – the AC700 will of course offer Wi-Fi connectivity (b/g/n). A 3G model is due later in the year.
It weighs only 1.33Kg and is one inch thick thanks to a sleek thin and light form factor.
Acer is promising “excellent battery life” of up to six hours with its 6-cell battery, while elsewhere you’ll get an integrated HD 1.3MP webcam. You’ll also get a HDMI output so you can connect it to a TV or projector. The Acer AC700 also has two USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader.
